Chapter News | February 2018
AIA Shanghai kicked off the new year with a series of great events that brought our community together despite the cold weather. We thank you and all our members for your support - and look forward to a great 2018 together!
We will be off to visit family, travel, and rest during the upcoming Spring Festival Holiday. But look for an email later this week listing our calendar of events to start after the holiday, including a networking event February 27, and lectures and a building tour in March.
2018 Annual Banquet
We had a fantastic turnout for our second annual banquet with over 250 architects and designers from Shanghai's leading firms enjoying a dinner at the Langham Xintiandi Hotel.
Outgoing 2017 President Christopher Chan officially handed over management of our chapter to 2018 President Alton Chow. We were also honored to recognize many distinguished members of Shanghai's architecture community.
January Networking
A crowd of about 50 members and friends of AIA Shanghai met at DAGA Brewpub for an evening of drinks and a chance to meet old colleagues and new friends. Join us on February 27 for our next networking event.
Shanghai International Finance Center Tour
Over 20 members and friends of the chapter joined Yingli Tang of Chicago-based Jahn Architects (winner of the AIA Firm Award) to view construction of the Shanghai International Finance Center on Century Avenue in Pudong. Despite the cold, we enjoyed a spectacular view from the future rooftop garden spaces. Thank you to our friends at Jahn Architects for inviting us to learn about this impressive project.
