May. 28 | AIA Shanghai: High-Rise Design Forum
The American Institute of Architects Shanghai Chapter is pleased to invite you to our high rise building forum on Friday, 28th May.
The design forum aims to bring together high-rise specialists from Gensler, SOM, PCP and Arup to share their experiences and illustrate how advanced design tools can smoothly integrate performance with innovative design ideas to create excellent architecture that enhances the urban environment.
Event Summary
As digital technologies have advanced, architects have developed new tools to advance the craft of building design which go beyond 3D modelling and the documentation capabilities of standard BIM software. This is most relevant in large-scale projects with demands for high performance in consideration of MEP operations, energy consumption, structural efficiency, life safety, and construction efficiency – particularly high rise buildings. While these tools can improve the workflow for architecture firms, their most important impact is how they allow architects to provide a better built environment.
This forum will feature presentations of specific projects that illustrate how advanced design tools can lead to better high-rise buildings. The performance areas to consider should be in operations, construction, structure, life safety, or environmental comfort – all of which tie into sustainable building. Featured projects will show how advanced design tools can smoothly integrate performance with innovative design ideas to create excellent architecture that enhances the urban environment.
